Leaving Stockholm, Sweden

The very moment i stepped into Arlanda airport in Stockholm, i knew that i miss Stockholm already, though the finality of the thought really hit me when i was back to Singapore, as there was no turning back now.

The whole day of my departure, was kinda of a brain freeze for me, as i had to juggle with my many pieces of luggage in addition to a farewell present given to me by my department, ahem...a vacuum cleaner, which i cant really complains, coz its the all cool new Ergorapido from Electrolux, which is detachable and apparently sold out in stores within hours when launched. but well its not the most cabin friendly or rather the farewell present that i would have in mind. but oh hell, i love this machine! going back, yes i have to clean up this 3 room apartment since my beloved flatmate Vivianne, left the day before and she had no time to help out too. This is where Gokce, our friendly turkish guy comes into the picture and offered his superb cleaning services as that was his day off as well. Cant tell you how much I appreciate your help, would not have done anything right that day without you! Ladies, if you are looking for a husband who can clean, vacuum and pack, look no further.:)

Then it was the gruelling 11 hr flight to Bangkok for a 2 hr transit and another 3 hr back to Singapore. I knew i was back in Asia, when i see so many pple with black hair and yellow skin walking around in the bangkok airport, and you cant help but hear conversations in languages you know, its like information overload....unlike in sweden, i have to guess most of the conversations half the time. And its warm, around 28 degrees, with light winds, felt happy that i dont have to wear my big lumpy winter jacket no more. Revisited my favourite cafe at Gate 51 at the airport, think there was where i sat when i started my journey towards sweden last dec, kind of a
deja vu thing for me...sigh what feelings, how much things have changed since.:)

Landing was very smooth back in Singapore, lugging my vacuum cleaner with me, i made it thru the customs successfully though in bangkok when i tried to explain to the customs officier by the scanning machine that its "something that sucks dusts in the house". Made it to the duty free shops,as every other Singaporean would and bought the duty free alcohol, where you can purchase up to a maxmium limit of a combination of 1 litre of liquer, 1 litre of wine and 3 cans of beer for relatively cheap prices. After my purchase, then it struck me that there arent alot of places to buy alcohol from in Singapore, other than the airport, supermarket where they have special shelves etc, or maybe they do but i am now too used to the Swedish Systembolagets which is government controlled in sweden BUT they have a mind blowing array of alchohol from all over the world.

Then i saw my dad at the arrival gate waiting for me...started my journey back to Singapore.
