Uncovering gems..
right here in Singapore this week, so am happy to share. Check out:
1. Emily Hill-Emily Hill is the first not-for-profit entity in Singapore that brings together artists and people whose businesses or lives are dependent on innovation and creativity. It is Singapore’s first prototype of a new partnership model wherein artists, arts groups and businesses support and sustain each other…and spark new ideas. They house T’ang Quartet and Wild Oats and they have interesting n seemingly easy workshops for boring white collar executives like me who has no creative link to the arty world. So wayyy cool....:D

2. Timbre FANTASTIC live music, this place is now ranked no.1 in my fave places to go for Live music and chilled out atmosphere. You can don slippers and three-quads and get a beer off the tap for reasonable prizes.... The queue for seats is long though but hey you can always stand and still enjoy the music.
Last but not least, I went for NAFA's(Nanyang Academny of Fine Arts) openhouse today just to have a look and learn more about the artistic world. Went for a guided tour in the Fashion Design Faculty and got to see for the 1st time ever on how the whole conceptulisation of design, motifs, patterns are done 1st by drawing-IDEAS, and then IMPLEMENTED! Seeing how much work is to make a simple pattern on a plain fabric, and embrodiery ( by very cool machines now, u just feed the machine with your design and it does the simple embrodiery, goodness know how long would I have taken just to thread the needle), and then air-ironing the clothes was so cool. Its like Project Runway and even more detailed...definately learnt so much more and could visualise for the 1st time how life would be, very different of course, if I had pursue this road. I dont have any friends who are artists, designers etc....all white collared workers like me who face the computers all day...
Hence I appreciate the design on my clothes much more now, for every single detail on them is an extra effort in its production.
