Fear of ageing and death

Digging deeper, I think for most people its more of running out of time and youth to do the things that you LIKE, whereas you got stuck doing the things that you don't like day in day out. So when do you stop?

Time flies, its scary.
We are coming into the month of Dec, soon to be a year since I am back to Singapore.

A promise kept

ship under the bridge
*Click here to see the rest of my lovely Sydney photos

Promised Rajat that I would go visit him when he is in Sydney, so off i went early Nov. My 1st trip alone (though I met Emma and Rajat for dinners at night), but basically its MY time, MY schedule, essentially its a ME time. Had tons of fun just being with me, guess I forgot how "enjoyable" I am as a person hehehe.

Really liked Sydney alot, the city is easy to roam around yourself, english speaking, must say the boys look very fine too ;). Weather is approaching summer now, fantastic, buildings and shops have the european architecture embedded in them, the shops, interior decorations are all one of the kind, very stylish and chic indeed, refreshing change from uniform Singapore I guess. Met up with very nice pple there too like Ikler and his wife to be Jeda, Pranav who went for the day-tour with me etc. :)

Have to say that my favourite is the Sydney Harbour Bridge and not ther Opera hse ( on a closer look, it looks more beige than white), you can tell from the number of photos that I took of it!

Relived the independent, resourceful, adventurous cafe seeker within me.

眼泪成诗

Been to KTV last night, with a hongkong girl who hasn’t been for the past 7 mths (Shocking indeed for a hongkongie :P).

Again, I am reminded on how beautiful, subtle messages that Chinese songs have. (heard that Hindi songs are the same). Instead of the usual english songs that say I love you, I miss you and you are hot! :P

We talk about
“Turning tears into poetry”, “Wounds into roses”, “I have turned my silence into deep remorse, with no way out; I can only say that I have nothing to say” ““My tears have turned into poetry for you to reminisce, words do not intoxicate human, but humans are mesmerized by them.” Probably I do little justice in its English translation, guess you really need to learn a language and how’s it is used to understand a teeny weenie bit of the culture then. Chinese culture definitely dwells on subtlety. Also have this thinking that song writers nowadays are our equivalent of modern day poets.

This latest song from Stephanie Sun, has the traditional er-hu instrument (think violin equivalent except it has only 2 strings) as the background music which adds to the Chinese traditional appeal. Flavour of the month after the karaoke attempt :)

孙燕姿 - 眼泪成诗
作曲: 刘宝龙, 编曲: Terence Teo

HotpotVanessa and me

Worktrip to Shanghai wasn't that all fun and exciting that I would have imagined.
- Worked on Sat and Sun = not much shopping and eating time
- Average time of departure from the office everyday is 10-11pm
- Stressed out most of the time with numbers not balancing !!!!
- Its getting cold there with strong winds ( where is my winter jacket?)
- Forgot about the nicey spitting habits of Chinese pple.. most of my cab drivers even opened their doors during the course of the journey to do their stuff.....Ewwwwwwww
- Very nearly got run over by cars even when i was crossing the zebra crossing, the cars do NOT slow down, in fact they speed up! Wupeee! One pedestrian down, how many have you got?

Though it is a learning experience afterall and on the plus side, i got to hang out with cool friends and taste some really great food at affordable prices!

Thanks to Tee whom I hanged out with almost every other day as Adam concludes, and brought me to this really local xiaolongbao place, where we waited for 45mins among pushy Shanghainese locals who have no eye for the law/queues.
Vanessa who hosted me and ceci in Jan this year, introduced me to Kanas and being my yummy food guide and such a funny person to be around :)

Rohit and DevrimYing at the dumpling place
Rohit and Devrim for dinner/drinks, oh yeah, who introduced me to this dutch guy called Niek who really changed my 1st impression of him so drastically. Evgenia, Carlos the purchasing group in Elux and Shirley who made my long hours in office more enjoyable.:)

Concluded that I would never think a business trip is fun anymore....i want a real holiday.....:)

Hesitance

My dad reads my blog

Sure most bloggers have their families reading their blogs too, call it communication disfunction of families perhaps, that you have to know what your kids are up to, thinking about only through blogs, otherwise call it the genius of internet yet again of connecting minds and enabling communications across generations, cultural and societal norms otherwise would have not been possible.:P

My dad reads my blog

And offers me "advice" or rather tells me not to get into trouble with the law through blogging ,ALMOST every morning.

What a joy to live with my family! :P

Wait till I read HIS and post comments on them!

Another "S" place here I come

I somehow remember back in Sweden, me, Nisarg and Rajat were saying that "S" is the next cool thing happening as we will be at S cities, Singapore (also a cty), Sydney, Stockholm this year.

So here I come- Shanghai for work for the next 11 days, see it as good learning experience, get a feel or 2 on how working life in Shanghai is like, afterall i did the tourist ride in Jan this year, and best of all, apart from working (i hope), is to explore cool new places with Tee, work in the same office as Johit (plus get an insider scope on how the hell did he get so THIN!), free dinne(r) from Devrim etc etc.

Oh well...funny that I am checking the weather forecast again after a long hiatus of my religious watch back in Sverige. Wonder if I could use any of my winter wear that i got from sweden, since i cant use it now in my tropical cty....ok just kidding :P

People come people go, but memmories fade?

People come people go, but memmories stay, popular quote from Nacho.
However as I was going through my "travel box" where i normally keep souvenirs, maps, tix stubs etc of my overseas trips to find a map or something from my trip to Shanghai early Jan. My treasure trove too brought back many memmories and i even uncovered very nice gifts too.... which I am ashamed to say that I forgot who gave me some very lovely presents, and i think they are pretty recent as well, dont even want to dig further. :(

Of the treasues i found:
- a very nice Swedish calender for 2005!!! when we are approaching 2006, darn! oh well i can use it for 2 more months. I rem that Dave bought it for me :P
- 2 greek porcelain ash trays that I bought from Sifnos isle
- rocks collected from beaches overseas
- a lavender eye relaxer pillow ( farewell present from CY, Fabien and Kanako) b4 i left for Sweden
- one of the funniest of all...is this XMAS card this lone ranger that I think I have been keeping for more than 5 years and I never had the opp to use it ( i even had a stamp on the envelope!) or its like DARN! i just missed XMAS! now i have it right in front of me and i just know who to give it too...u lucky one! haha

Someone stop me from losing memmories so fast....
